| The open air markets in Vernon on Monday and Thursday mornings and Friday nights at the Wal-Mart Parking lot are well worth the visit - fresh fruit and vegetables to be sure, but a wide variety of local handicrafts are also displayed and the marked often features live entertainment and demonstrations in a great carnival like atmosphere. Nearby provincial parks that surround the town, like Kalamalka and Ellison Parks, offer great hiking and biking trails. Silver Star Mountain Resort provides exciting extreme mountain biking trails for the teenager in you and for those of you who want just a quiet road trip viewing some of our great agricultural farmlands - many of the off highway roads in the Spallumcheen Valley offer just the ticket for you. | |

Many of the local farms are now selling direct to you, the consumer, and as a result have become wonderful attractions in and of themselves - Visiting Davidson Orchards is a must-see, they have a whole village to experience and don't miss out on their pies ~ a local favorite! Planet Bee, the wonders of nature exemplified by the industrious activities of these little workers can be seen in this fully functioning apiary. Aberdeen Farm Market which even ahs a little train for the kids to ride is also worth the trip and for those looking for a little further afield we also have the Log Barn near Enderby to bring the delights of the garden to you and Chickadee Ridge that boasts the largest herd of miniature horses in Canada as well as a full gamut of other farm and exotic animals for the child in you to enjoy.
Have you always wondered about cheese and how it was made? Village Cheese Factory has a great viewing room and instructional video as well as letting you sample over 20 different varieties of cheese - this is a great destination after a bike ride too - enjoy a coffee or ice-cream in the restaurant. The O'Keefe Ranch is an authentic fully operating ranch with all the original historical buildings. Go ahead and watch the craftspeople at work or participate in one of their many festivals and events - this is definitely a don't miss attraction! |
